1 Ferenc, Herczeg Isten Kardya, Hosok Emleke
Budapest A Magyar Epitomuveszek Szovetsegenek Kiadasa 1916 Hardback Very Good-
Grey cloth boards, rather stained and marked. Binding intact, though a little frail. Red paper label with titling covers most of front board. Hungarian text. B/w illustrations. No 78 of 100 numbered copies. The "Isten Kardja" was the Sword of Attila (ie Attila the Hun), also known as the Sword of Mars or Sword of God. This book title roughly translates as "Sword of God - Heroes' memory", published by the Association of Hungarian Architects. The illustrations are of various Hungarian monuments (featuring the said Sword) to past and present heroes, so presumably its appearance in the midst of the Great War was meant to stimulate popular patriotism. Ferenc was himself one of Hungary's leading writers (a Nobel Prize nominee), and a promoter of conservative nationalist opinion in the country. ; 4to (8" x 11"); LXVII pages
