Pale brown boards; a little marked. App 3" damage to head of spine; stitched binding quite frail, and hinges weak, but just about intact, and no pp loose. B/w illustrations. The book is undated, but was published in 1954. This book traces the history of the site from at least Roman times up to the 1930s. The culmination of the story is the then new office block on the site; the building just prior to that had been the original King William Street terminus of the world's first electric Underground railway, the City and South London Railway, now part of the Northern Line. The 1930s building has now itself been demolished, and replaced with a yet newer one. Sic transit, etc. ; 8vo (6" x 10"); 38 pages
