Illustrated dk red boards, rather worn; a trifle marked; gilt titling and illustration on front still very bright. Front and rear boards detached, but present; backstrip missing. Textblock very intact. Gilt foredges. Owner's name on front pastedown and title page, only 36 of the called for 40, hand-coloured plates present. An interesting contemporary, satirical look (by a French Artist) at the Paris Commune and its communards, which emerged in the aftermath of the 1871 Franco-Prussian War.
